Singapore — Sometimes the Internet can be a wonderful thing.

Check it out Help our hawkers! Google map 200 hawkers who will serve you a delicious meal and who, at the same time, could really benefit from your help.

Best of all, you now have access to the hawkers closest to you.

A local Redditor worried about the well-being of “many hawkers facing digital problems”, especially those who are elderly and illiterate.

u / waffleboy92 wrote that they are “unable to benefit from the food delivery (and) are suffering a lot now and are about to close.

“If they are unable to overcome this period, they will take with them years of rich peddling heritage. “

He added: “The easiest way is to support them directly by buying from them …”

But not knowing where they were, he wished there was “something that would let me know these stalls at a glance …

“Why does it not exist? ” He asked.

He then created a map that would both practice and accessible, providing this information, so that people can easily find the hawkers.

When the map was launched, he had 10 hawker stalls on his map. Each entry gave the address, opening hours and specialties of each stand, and some entries also had the backstory of the stand.

However, “nice people have come together to help,” wrote u / waffleboy92, especially thanking u / yellowbean9 and OldieGoodieHawker.

There are now 200 stalls on the map. Additionally, the most recent data points also come with the stories, as we can see from the entrance to Roasted Delights, found at Hougang Ave 1 below.

The Redditor added that he hoped the updated map would help anyone who wanted to support Singapore’s digitally disadvantaged hawkers, “but just don’t know who and where they are near your. current location! “

And anyone wishing to add new stands can do so too through it Google Form.
